Am taking Welbutrin to quit smoking so I can have the gastric bypass surgery. Surgery is in 3 weeks. I need to know now how I can continue to take Welbutrin after my surgery, or if I need to do something else.

you won’t be able to take pills for a few months, but after I think 6 months or so, you can go back to taking whole pills again, I can’t remember how long it was before my doctor let me start taking pills again, but you won’t be on liquid meds forever. as far as liquid welbutrin, I don’t know, but I bet a pharmacist could tell you, just be sure it’s not too harsh to take if it is available in liquid form, some things you can’t ever take again, like aspirin and ibuprofen.

There is some medications that does not come in liquid form and when you have gastric bypass you have to crush them when you take them, you can buy a pill crusher at Walmart or your pharmacy. Your surgeon can tell you which one of your medicines that doesn’t come in liquid or call the pharmacist and ask. Good Luck on your surgery….
