SoLe_UcE asked:

I was watching 60 Minutes last Sunday saw the piece on Gastric Bypass. My mom is diabetic matches all the other requirements for this surgery . How should she start. Like what is the first step? Find a doctor or should she be attending some class? I don’t even know how to help her?

An md good luck and am wishing the best for your moms age think that mds these are more likely to prescribe medicine they do but they do but they evaluate the same thing that physician would be used as you would find them.
The patient as whole rather than one symptom check it outyou can find them anywhere.

Yes, talk to the insurance company first, then get her doctor to make arrangements to see a specialist. You do realize that this is not a cure for her diabetes….it will just help her lose weight so she can control it better. Too many people have misunderstood the whole gastric bypass thing and think it is a cure. We had a big disscussion about it Monday at a diabetic ed. class I was at. It is also just for type 2 diabetics.
