gastric bypass
tyson’s mommy asked:

I had gastric bypass surgery about a year and a half ago, I am 22 weeks pregnant and before my surgery was a borderline diabetic. My OB had me do a glucose tolerance test that my me really sick….I told them it would and that I couldnt drink 10 oz in less the five minutes but they said I had to. I am really frustrated because I feel they don’t understand that I am different and cant do certain things like other patients. He hasn’t had other Gastric Bypass Patients so he has no idea. My question is what kind of alternative testing did you or someone you know do instead of the glucose test, since I have to have another at 32 weeks and also how much weight are you or did you gain. There aren’t very many resources for pregnant women after gastric bypass so any help would be great!!!!

I have never been pregnant but I did see a program about a woman who had gastric bypass and got pregnant on The Learning Channel.

Saw another program on the same channel about a woman who had the surgery because she was wanting to have a baby.

I would recommend getting in touch with the surgeon that did your gastric bypass to see if he can talk to your OB/GYN about issues with testing and such since you can’t drink as much of the liquid as required since having the surgery.

Also, some other sites you can check out that may give you additional information is: (they have a Women’s health site there too and also information for pregnant women) and at:
