gastric bypass
Keli asked:

My sister had gastric bypass surgery and lost almost 80 pounds in 3 months. I want to do the same thing but without the surgery. I wonder if I could use her diet after her surgery to do the same thing?

No because she is restricted on the amount of intake. If you want to lose weight easily without surgery. Exercise. I lost 28lb walking several kilometres every day for two months. The better I got at it the more I could walk.

Your sister’s surgery was the reason she lost such a dramatic amount of weight so quickly. Before her surgery, her body was used to her normal eating habits, but her calorie intake was greatly reduced after her surgery because she no longer had the urge, and i daresay ability, to consume the same amount of food. If you really want to lose weight, my personal opinion is that the Slimfast diet is the best. A slimfast for breakfast and lunch, with raw veggies, or slimfast snack inbetween, and a salad or baked and low cal meat dish for dinner. Alot of cardio will help alot too.

I have no idea but I have a idea to get a diet without the surgery. 1. Mostly eat fruits and vegetables. 2. Try to walk a mile everyday.

Are you serious? Because the area of her stomach that can receive food has been reduced in size. This ain’t rocket science. And gastric bypass is a drastic step when all else fails. It is not used just to lose weight. It is used in cases of extreme obesity.

I just had the surgery December 12th 2005 and I was 4’9″ 220 pounds . So far I have lost 54 pounds so I’m at 166 right now and still losing . I havn’t had any comlications and never have been sick . I feel great ! The reason a person loses so much is because the stomach is reduced a lot smaller than normal . I get about 500 or less calories a day . 1/2 of the calories being from one protein drink . I take vitamins daily . I am not hungry like I would be on a regular diet before so that really helps in losing weight too . A lot of people say people like myself have take the easy way out . Easy way out haha they have got to be kidding . There is a lot a person can not have after this surgery not that I’m complaining but this is not like a regular diet where you can stop the diet and start eater sugary foods again . So knowing that I can’t have things also helps with me losing the weight . I have no regrets about this surgery . I’m working my way to get between 100-115 pounds and I am so determined to do so . Tell your sister good luck !
