Gastric Bypass Tummy Tuck Results

Can I get plastic surgery approved?

I’m 24 and had gastric bypass a little over a year ago. I’ve lost over 100 lbs and have excess skin as a result. My insurance (United Healthcare) did not cover my initial surgery, but my question is- is it possible they would cover plastic surgery to have skin removed? What is the average cost of this (tummy tuck and breast contouring) ? What is the expected recovery time?

Thanks for your help.

My wife had GP and fought with her insurance company for over two years. They finally paid for some stuff, but not for others.

If morbid obesity is endangering your health, you might make an argument for covering it… but the recividity rate is high, and they usually consider it cosmetic or not covered because of an exclusion. You might fight this under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which classifies morbid obesity as a disability.

Plastic surgery is even tougher… it’s almost always clearly cosmetic. If your doctor can provide you with written reasons why it’s not, you might have a chance.

Good luck.

What are good bioengineering related topics that I can write a technical report on?

I have trouble finding a topic for my English Technical Report class, specifically a bioengineering related topic. The topic must entail a problem, so that I can write a proposal and the report on it. If possible, I would like more than one solutions, so I can do a comparison and extend the report. The report has to be like 25 pages long!

An example of such topic (but I cant use) is:
A Comparison of Two Types of Bariatric Surgery: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

The dangers posed by GE products and steps that should be taken to protect consumers from them.

After Gastric Bypass Pain Medication

July 25th, 2010

Will alcohol and narcotic pain meds kill me?

If i took a darvocet 2 to 4 hours after i got beyond drunk can this kill me or cause damage? I stopped drinking after i had about 3 jaeger bombs and about 6 beers. Since i had gastric bypass that was enough to disorientate me and screw me up REALLY REALLY good. So i stopped drinking and took a (darvocet 100)
which is what it is called. I took 1 possibly 2 and had some heart shap jabbing pain on and off . Anybody know if the pill and alcohol mix can kill me and when is it appropriate after drinking to take any medications. I would appreciate the help. thank you

It is never wise to mix drugs and alcohol. It bothers me that you don’t know if you took 1 or 2 darvocet tablets. Since you are writing this I would assume you are o.k. Your jabbing pain’s are possibly caused by your gastro system which you are abusing in an extreme way. My brother-in-law had to get a illeostomy,(an ileostomy provides a new path for waste material to leave the body after part of the intestine has been removed) after abusing alcohol after a gastric bypass. I suspect by the tone of your question that you know what you are doing is dangerous. Why go through the grief of a gastric bypass just to destroy your health? Maybe a little counseling or overeaters anonymous could help you with this compulsive behaviour.
